Deputy Grand Knight's Message
June 2008
Dear Brother Knights,
Summer is fast approaching and our Council year is coming to a close. However, June will be a pretty active month and we need many members to come out and help with activities.
On Tuesday June 17 our last Council meeting will include a steak barbecue at 6.30pm for Brother Knights and their spouse or friend. The meeting will be brief to allow for fraternity with all. If you do not have tickets call Bro. George Champagne at 519 641 4280.
On the evening following our barbecue, Wednesday June 18th at 7.00pm, Brother Knights are encouraged by Father Clare and Father Joseph to attend a special Eucharistic Congress Celebration at Holy Family Parish. Seats in the Church will be reserved for our Council members to sit together. There will be a 4th Degree Honour Guard and the CWL members will also be present. This celebration is being organized by Father Rob Rocheleau and Father Joseph Morawski. A spiritual message will be given by Bishop John Sherlock.
Our Parish Pastoral minister, Trish VanDam is retiring from her duties at the end of this month and Parishioners will have an opportunity to express their good wishes and to visit with Trish after all Masses on the weekend of June 28/29th. Our Council has been requested to provide members to assist the CWL in serving refreshments after all Masses. A sign up sheet will be available at the June general meeting if you intend volunteering your services.
Father Joseph is organizing a celebration for our Parish youth to coincide with World Youth Day being held in Australia this summer [their winter]. Our Council will be assisting Father Joseph by hosting a barbecue for our youth on Friday, July 25th. Members will be contacted to help out or there may be a sign up sheet at the June general meeting.
I extend on behalf of our Council members a thank you to Bros. Don Highley & Peter Lierman for serving as delegates from our Council to the Ontario State convention in May. A report on the convention will be in the minutes of our May Council meeting. I am happy to let you know that our Council was the recipient of the Trillium Award.
In May, parishioners were generous in support of Rose Sunday for the Diocesan Right to Life program. Thanks to Bro. Larry Mottram for organizing this successful fund raiser.
Lastly, I look forward to working with our new slate of officers elected at our May Council meeting. The results of the election will be reported in the bulletin.
In closing I urge you to continue praying for our Worthy Grand Knight, Bro. Lawrence Reaume.
God Bless,
Richard Vandierendonck Deputy Grand Knight

My Dear Brother Knights,
As we prepare ourselves for the summer break, I would like to reflect a bit
about the need that we all have to take some time for ourselves and our
families. We have a tendency to think that there will always be time in the
future to respond to these responsibilities. However days turn into weeks, weeks
Summer will give many of us the opportunity for some well deserved free time. How are we going to take advantage of it? What are those things that we know we should be doing but that we have put off thinking that there will always be lots of time?
Time goes by so fast; people go in and out You must never miss the opportunity to tell these people How much they mean to you …… From Cheers God Bless You!

Important Notice From State
Reassurance Program In the past month in Holy Family Parish, a group of volunteers has been involved in a new social action program called “Reassurance”. The purpose is to offer peace of mind to those in our community living alone as well to their loved ones. It is open to all people living on their own regardless of age and who would benefit from knowing someone will be in touch with them every day. If you know of anyone who would benefit from this program, please tell them about it and have them call the Parish and ask to speak to the coordinator – Mary Thompson @ 519 601 5357. You can also speak to Mary if you would like to volunteer to help out with this outreach service.
